Privacy Policy

Introduction
Whale Street ("we", "our", or "us") is a market-simulation game for Discord. When a server administrator adds our bot, it turns the server's channels into tradeable stocks: chat activity sets their prices, and members spend play-tokens to buy and sell shares. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Because an administrator installs Whale Street for an entire server, we observe activity signals across all channels in that server to price the market and award XP — not only the actions of members who actively trade. We have designed the game to need as little personal information as possible, and to never read what anyone actually says.
Information We Collect
To run the market and the game economy we collect activity metadata and game state — never the content of messages:
- Discord identifiers: user, server (guild), and channel IDs, used to attribute activity and game progress to the right member, server, and channel.
- Profile details:a member's display name, username, and avatar reference, cached so the bot can show who is who.
- Activity metadata: per-day counts of messages and reactions and per-channel message counts, used to set channel share prices and award XP. Counts and timing only — never message text.
- Game state: your play-token balance, the shares you hold, your trade history, dividends, and your XP and level.
What We Never Collect
We do not read, store, or process your message content. That means no message text, no direct messages, and no attachments — ever. The market runs entirely on activity metadata such as how often and when members post, not on what they write.
How We Use Your Information
- Set channel share prices from how busy each channel is
- Run the game economy — token balances, trades, holdings, and dividends
- Award XP and track levels as members play
- Operate, maintain, and improve the service
No Real Money
Whale Street uses play-tokens with no real-world value. There is nothing to purchase, deposit, or cash out, and we do not collect any payment information to play. It is a game, not a financial product.
Legal Basis
Where the GDPR applies, we process this metadata on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, providing the in-server game an administrator has chosen to add — balanced against the limited, content-free nature of the data we use.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service providers: infrastructure we rely on to run the service (for example, database and hosting providers) under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
We retain a server's data for as long as the bot is installed. When the bot is removed from a server, the associated activity and game data is deleted. You may request deletion of your data at any time.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data
To exercise any of these, contact us through our Discord support server or at [email protected].
Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child's data has been collected, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above or through our Discord support server.
